a good year for celebration health, a great year for zimbabwe's health system
Celebration Health has made significant contributions to both private and public healthcare delivery systems. Gifts exceeded 12 million US dollars this year.
Over a five month period Celebration Health treated almost 15 000 cases of cholera out of 92 000 cases reported nationally. In addition to this nearly 100 000 people were reached in Health education this year.
Celebration Health has also seen the arrival of 32 large consignments of medical and food aid which they have distributed to cholera camps, 37 public health institutions and 28 orphanages as well as 4 old peoples homes and 8 prisons throughout the country.
Celebration Health recently received a significant donation from Medical Missions International. It included a much needed ambulance, a mobile clinic, and most recently the first ever in Zimbabwe mobile CT scanner.
The CT scanner was funded by The Coca Cola Africa Foundation. Currently there is only one other functioning CT scanner in use in a public hospital in Zimbabwe.
Celebration Health has also entered into partnerships with CitiHope International (CHI) who supply medicines and medical supplies- an initiative funded by The Coca Cola Africa Foundation (TCCAF), in conjunction with Nazarene Compassion Ministries and Medical Missions International
These initiatives are supported by several pharmaceutical companies. This partnership was officially launched at the Celebration Centre on the 22nd of July 2009 as the first shipment of medicines worth over $4.5 million was handed over to Celebration Health. A further $4.5 million was received and distributed again on the 8th of December at the Celebration Centre. Even though the year is drawing to a close Celebration Health is still going strong and is expecting 2 or 3 more containers of much needed medicines, food and equipment before the end of the year.
